Two of the figures are ghost-like and symbolize those who died on the job. The woman standing on the crate brings attention to unsafe working conditions. The beam serves as a sundial and is in position to be accurate on noon of April 28th. The images on the beam reflect people who have been injured, either physically or emotionally. On the end of beam sits a canary, which is a symbol of the Day of Mourning. (Peter Walsh Photo)
